Heath Zenith SL-6106-WH Vacancy Motion Sensor Wall Switch Review
This works exactly as written which is to say not as I expected (my fault for preconceived notions). This switch will not sense when somebody comes in to the room and turn the lights on. Instead, you have to press the button to turn the lights on and as long as it detects motion the lights stay on. If no motion for programmed period of time, then they turn off. Very easy to install, works as advertised. I would recommend it if you don't need the lights to turn on automatically.

Heath Zenith SL-5525-WH-B 250-Watt Quartz Motion-Sensing Light, White Review
Light output excellent. But what happens if the motion-detector timer fails to shut off and the high-heat producing halogen bulb stays on?
In my case, it caused the outer plastic housing to melt down and possibly to have caught fire, just two weeks after installed. Fortunately, it was self-limiting, but the heat blistered the paint on the wood siding on which the light was mounted. The siding could have, but did not, catch fire, or else the house could have burned down. The manufacturer said it shouldn't happen. But it did. And if it happened once, it can happen again.

Heath Zenith SL-5412-BZ-B 300-Watt Motion-Sensing Twin Security Light, Bronze Review
This review may be in vain as I tried the company's website and it is gone. I had a couple of hits on a search that say they are out of business. I took the time to post this since I am currently looking for another replacement light and I see Heath is for sale all over the place, so I don't know what is going on.
I have purchased from this company for years and had very good luck. At least until my most recent purchase of this model. The old Heath lights I have still work, they are fifteen years old.
It all began about four years ago when I bought what I though was a good product for my newly wired barn. I purchased two of them and at the time they were around thirty dollars each. I mounted them (not an easy job as they are 15' in the air under a soffit) and tested in "test" mode.
All was well the first two years except they failed to turn off during the winter months. I kept climbing the ladder and adjusting stuff, thinking it was my fault. Finally one unit quit completely. I called the factory and they agreed to send a replacement since the store had gone out of business. Not bad customer service there.
That new replacement worked for one year, actually less than that as I shut both of them down quite awhile ago due to the fact that they never shut down themselves.
Today I climbed up the ladder again and installed an old Heath light I had laying around. I tested it and it checked out fine. I need to purchase another light to replace the other defective unit but it sure won't be one of these junkers!

Heath Zenith BL-6136-WH Basic Solutions Wireless Switch and Plug-In Review
I needed to turn on a light in our barn from our home which is up hill from our barn with no means of being able to wire the two up for security reasons. I read about the Heath Zenith wireless switch and felt it would be the perfect solution although my home and barn is more than 100 ft. apart. I received my order promptly and in perfect condition. I plugged in the outlet and then a lamp and walked up hill to my home and was able to turn on the barn light from my back porch! It works perfectly every time and solved my wiring problem. I plan on purchasing a few more.

Heath Zenith SL-4305-BK Motion-Activated Five-Sided Porch Light, Black Brass with Frosted Glass Review
Our home was broken into by a neighbor boy and his sister so we looked all over for a motion light to put above out enterance door. This light works wonderfully and is not obviously a motion light. We leave it on at all times and it flashes on as someone approaches on our sidewalk to our door. So if the lights on someone has been around our front porch. Makes me feel safer.

Heath Zenith SL-6198-B Wireless Doorbell Replacement Battery Review
Perfect for allowing us to do things in the back room and hear when someone enters the front door of the shop. No technical difficulties, except the a little plastic thing off broke off the slide for the battery case when we dropped it, still works fine. Adjustible ringtones so you don't have to listen to ding dong or the chapel bells if you don't want too, one ding is enough thank you. Transmits through the sliding glass window even when its closed. If youre looking for a door alarm, this is the right thing. check it out.

Heath Zenith SL-4151-BR1 Mission Style 150-Degree Motion Sensing Decorative Security Light, Rustic Brown Review
Heath and Zenith are names I remember, so I figured this light would last longer than the previous generic brand I bought at a box store. It only lasted maybe 300 cycles.
The H-Z is attractive, has real bevelled glass, a 30-foot range and several settings for time on and such. It is heavy and seems very rugged. It isn't a lightweight or cheesy light. The finish seems durable, but of course only time will tell.
It also has a "Dual-Brite" feature. What this means is that there is a mode where the light will get just enough power to make the bulb filament just glow. In this mode it serves as an accent light and the low-volt glow is kind of orange, so it looks like an old gas flame. This wasn't a feature I was interested in, but it is there.
Unfortunately, I couldn't get the low-volt mode to turn off. Motion would turn the light on bright, as it should, but when it turned off, the glow mode would activate and wouldn't go away.
I called the number on the warranty/instruction booklet and got an actual American. He said he would get another one out of stock, test it and send it. He did, and it works fine.
Why five stars for a product that was defective? Well, the lamp is very nice and everyone knows that a small percentage of electronic products fail. No product is any better than the support, so I can report that H-Z stands behind its product. If they didn't, then there would be a scathing one-star review.
I did look at the module of the SL-4151 and compared it to my original melted one. The one in the H-Z is much bigger and better looking, so I'll expect it to last. I have other motion-activated lights that have worked for over fifteen years, so it is possible.
So, rugged and good looking, versatile and good customer support equals five stars.
I suggest getting a clear lamp for it. Looks better than a frosted type bulb and the low-volt feature precludes a fluorescent. It isn't on enough to worry about energy saving anyway.

Heath Zenith SL-6020-WH5 Wireless Command, Remote control receptacle set Review
This is a great idea. This version is nice because it replaces your normal outlet, so you do not have a bulky apparatus plugged on you wall. However, do not be confused by the picture. You can see a remote that can control two outlets, however, it does not controls the two outlets in this products separately. One side of the remote controls the whole product as a whole. If you buy a second product, then your could control both separately.

My wife wants these insecurity lights. I put up 5 of them. Over the last 5 years I've had to replace all of them at least once. Sometimes they just flash or go out on their own. Heath Zenith SL-5718-BK-C 270-Degree Motion Sensing Security Light, Black Review
I purchased 4 of these units for my two story frame home. They were placed under he second story eves 25 feet high with the motion sensor placed toward the ground at a 45 degree angle. The primary use was for security as I live on a dark wooded street.
These things are driving me nuts. The lights keep going on and off again for no apparent reason all night long. They will do it if its windy, if it rains, if it doesnt rain, if its cold. The motion sensor is the worst. The manuel is no help explaining the issue. And all 4 are placed in different environments around the home so a single type of surrounding cant be blamed.
And I varied the sensitivity setting in all ranges with no beneficial effect.
Now I have to pay my electrition to remove them so they can be returned. What a huge waste of time and money.

Heath Zenith SL-6008-WH-A Wireless Command Remote Control Lamp Set Review
We recently expanded a screen porch and lightly furnished with a few party lights and a lamp. Problem is that at night, there is no switch to turn lights on/off; this is a great fix - and is secure.
We can turn the lights on/off from inside the house which is especially helpful for the midnight bathroom run by the dogs.
What I thought was an added benefit (didn't know until we already purchased) was the dimmer feature - so we can dim the lights to our liking.
This kit comes with one transmitter that is capable of driving two different devices, but only one receiver. Keep this in mind!

Heath Zenith SL-4144-AZ-A New England Carriage Style 150-Degree Motion Sensing Decorative Security Light, Antique Bronze Review
I fell in love with these lights at a local retailer but couldn't find one I really liked. Amazon came to the rescue with a wider selection and significantly better prices.
These lights were easy to install, even for home improvement rookies. The difference in our front entrance is dramatic from our old brass lights.
My only issues: 1) the dual-brite feature isn't working. My husband is fairly convinced that this is due to the compact fluorescent bulbs we are using. It hasn't mattered enough for us to try a different bulb, so I'm not sure if that's the cause. 2) The screws were too long to fit into our "universal" mounting plate. Again, that was probably due to the construction of our house, but was the only hassle. We used the screws from the old light and had no trouble.
Also, my first choice would have been black.
I would absolutely buy this again, and plan to order similar lights for our back patio area when we get to that part of the house.

Heath Zenith SL-5512-BZ-B 300-Watt Quartz Halogen Motion-Sensing Twin Security Light, Bronze Review
I bought this earlier in the yr and although when i got it the item was in good condition i had some problems.
I thought that it would be slightly larger in size.
Then one thing that pissed me off was the fact that when i installed the bulbs they wouldn't come on for gold. It wasn't until i checked the bulbs that i realsied that althought they seemed to be never used, both filaments were broken. Not the glass just the filaments. I am not sure if this came from the manufacturers like this or if it wasa result of bad shipping.....
the end result remains that i have to look for bulbs for these lamps that i never used yet and on a unit that isn't even installed yet.
I will contact Amazon and the maker to see what can be done about it.
So i got bought the bulbs at my local hardware store after the suppliers promised that they'd send me bulbs after the fact that the ones i got had the filaments broken..even before use.
The end result is that i like the lamps.....the 2 way lighting is great...it has a hi-lo feature that works great. In essence the light will come on at about 45-55% on standard all time and when it detects movement come on full power and then once it resets goes back to 55% power...nice.
The test feature is also good for 10-15 second burts of light.. and you still have thew 5 -10 15 -30 minute feature.
Along with the sesitivity features it's a good product from Zenith....

Heath Zenith SL-4192-BK Six-Sided Die-Cast Aluminum Lantern, Black with Beveled Glass Review
We have 5 of these lights on our house that were installed 4 years ago when the house was built. Three on outside of garage that faces Southwest in direct sunlight, began giving problems after about 2 years. The dark tinted plastic light sensor cover located on the face, dry rotted and broke apart after about 2 years and with that the problems started, wont shut off during daylight, and occasionally, will not come on after dusk. They have a 5 year warranty on them though so I will try to have them replaced. Motion sensor works well though, goes from a very low power, low light, to high, full power when sensing movement. It's a great feature when coming up the driveway at night. One problem with it though, the high/low dimming will not work with CFL power saver bulbs, a real consideration in todays need to conserve energy. The fixtures look good adding a nice touch of class to the exterior of the house.

Heath Zenith SL-6051-WH Wireless Command, Motion Light Set Review
I have been looking for something like this for many years! I had a really cheap light with a built in motion sensor at the front door and it was junk...but the motion sensor worked well. I wanted a really nice quality front door lantern, but none came with motion sensors. I talked to electricians many times about wiring a motion sensoir to my front door light but no one wanted to try it. Then I discovered this. It works wonderfully and I am delighted. The sensor is very near the light and the switch and that may make the difference, but I now have two and they have been working for several months without a hitch!

I have purchased two motion sensor lights that were made by Heath/Zenith. Both were faulty. The first one only worked for a short period of time before it died.
and the second one never did work correctly. It would come on and stay on. Not only during the night. But it would burn all day long too. By the time you figure out the light doesn't work, you have spent hours of your time just trying to trouble shoot the problems.

Heath Zenith 56 Wired Door Chime, Cherry with Rubbed Bronze Tubes Review
We had an old-timey doorbell that had the actual brass tubes that hung down and were struck when the doorbell rang. When it finally gave out, we searched quite a bit for an equivalent replacement, wanting to steer clear of all-electronic ones that just had a speaker instead of an actual bell. This was the closest thing we could find.
I was hoping that because this door chime had actual mechanical strikers that it would give a similar rich sound to my old brass chimes. However, this doorbell sounds like the sort of bell you hear when you walk into a mall store, at the deli line when the next customer comes up, etc. Just a cheap sounding, generic "donk-donk." Maybe an electronic one wouldn't have been so bad afterall.

The HEath Zenith SL-6142-c is a cheap item which does its job almost flawlessly. Out of the box I installed and it worked: one battery included with the kit was dead (took me a few minutes switching batteries to figure this out). I had to change the settings on the main wired element because the bell would ring when my neighbor had a delivery, I guess has the same radio frequency on his bell... It was easy: unscrew one screw on the wired element (remove from wall of course), place the provided black cap on the jumper on #5, do the same for the puch button element and you are all set.
I would recommend this purchase.

Heath Zenith SL-6166-C Wireless Door Chime, White Review
This is inexpensive and had the chime sound my wife and I wanted. I'll leave it to other reviews to discuss long-term problems, I just now installed mine and it has worked three times out of three.
The install process is from the "we don't care" school. There are indentations where the screws go, but you have to push the screws through the plastic - there's no hole or poke-away tab.
If you want to change the tone - I didn't, but I read the manual - you open the doorbell unit and change jumpers! This is fine if you have spent time setting up hard drives, but strikes me as an odd process for a doorbell with a total of three (3) sounds to choose from. Similar doorbells use a button on the underside of the ringer to change tones from one sound to the next.
The doorbell functions so far, the bell is fifteen feet from the ringer, but the workmanship is consistent with the bad reviews and does not fill me with confidence.
I recommend that you buy something else.

Heath Zenith SL-6053-WH Wireless Command, Motion Light Set with Dual-Brite Review
I purchased this product to make the can lights that were installed under the outside eaves outside my back door motion activated. So far it works great. The base unit (mounted in the wall inside my house) is about 25 feet from the motion sensor (mounted outside). I am adding another base unit (to have addtional under eaves lights activated by the same motion sensor) and will update this review only if that results in a problem. The install was pretty straightforward, with one exception. For some reason, the portion of the base unit that shows through the switchplate, while sized the same as a standard "paddle style" switch paddle, is oriented slightly higher. So, just note, if your are installing the base unit in a multiple switch location, you may have to do some minor modificaion to get the base unit to match up with the other paddle switches in your multiple switch switchplate.

Heath Zenith SL-5318-BZ-A Motion-Sensing Shielded Wide-Angle Twin Security Light, Bronze Review
This fixture was as described, very simple to install, what I did was position the lighting housing and sensor before installing the fixture. Don't know if it makes much of a difference but I thought it did, this way after installation you would have to make only small adjustments with positioning. Same for the sensor. The fixture fitted right on spot where the old lamp was, all that was need was connecting the wires and securing the fixture. Adjustments to the settings are quite simple. Good Product, very sensitive. Now I have to relocate some small trees that cause the lamp to turn on when it becomes windy.

Heath Zenith BL-6133-WH Basic Solutions Wireless Switch and Wall Switch Review
I got this set to move a light switch that was behind a dresser to a more useful place beside the door so I only use the remote, battery-operated switch.
If you move the remote switch partway it will trigger, or if you move it too quickly it sometimes triggers twice or not at all. Also, I tried to switch over to energy-saving bulbs and found that with this switch installed they could not be shut off.
The in-wall switch has a strange toggle next to the normal switch that is hard to manage. During installation it slipped to a halfway point and neither switch would function until I figured it out.
There's a few quirks with using this product but it is overall decent and does what it is intended to.

Tivax STB-T8 Digital to Analog TV Converter Box Review
We have a friend with no on-line access, so I ordered two for us, and then he had us buy two for him. We are (all) very satisfied. We don't need ours at home because we have two recently purchased digital TVs but we plan to use the converters in our travel trailer (one for the bedroom and one for the living room) with old sets. On Facebook, I mentioned that folks with travel trailers often use older TVs and probably haven't thought of the need for a converter. I was hit with a bunch of folks who realized they hadn't taken that into consideration. This is the last month for the coupons. Amazon has the best deal.
